On or about XX/XX/2022, I was notified by my credit reporting service that Mitchell D. Bluhm & Associates , LLC ( XXXX ) had placed a collections notice in my credit file. According to the reporting service, the original creditor was XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX To the best of my knowledge, I have never had a relationship with or received services from either of these entities. In addition, I never received a letter from XXXX notifying me of the debt and did not have the chance to dispute it prior to it going into collections. Based on this, I disputed the collection with the credit reporting agencies. I also sent a debt verification letter to XXXX requesting information regarding the alleged debt and requesting that the only communicate with me in writing ( as is my right under law ). Despite that, a representative from their office contacted me on XX/XX/2022 to attempt to collect the debt. When I informed her that I had received no correspondence from XXXX, she said they had sent letters in XXXX to an address that I hadn't had in almost 7 years. Since my forwarding order for that address had expired almost 6 years ago, it is likely that correspondence was returned as " undeliverable ''. It's clear that XXXX made no futher effort to obtain my correct address ( which is readily ) available and proceeded to file a collection with taking reasonable steps to contact me in writing and allow me an opportunity to dispute the alleged debt and receive more information about it. Given I have no recollection of the original creditor and XXXX claims to have sent notification to an address that is almost 7 years old, I have serious doubts as to the validity of this claim. XXXX has not responded to my request for information and, based on their actions to date, has no interest in following the debt-collection procedures outlined in law. Since I was not given the opportunity to protest or respond to their original request for payment, I have asked XXXX to remove the collection notice from my credit reports and start the process over. I feel that it's only fair for me to have the chance to investigate the claim, validate the amount ( if any ) is owed, and settle the issue prior to having my financial reputation tarnished by what could very well be an invalid debt. I further request that XXXX 's business practices be investigated by the proper oversight authority to ensure they are abiding by the requirements of federal, state, and local laws in regards to debt collection.
