XX/XX/21 - XX/XX/21 there was fraud charges on my Discover credit card. Large transactions from various XXXX XXXX and XXXX were made as well as smaller restaurant charges. Totaling to {$6900.00} now with added interest it is {$8900.00}. My Discover and XXXX credit cards were stolen but I only found out after 2-3 weeks after the fraud charges were made. I let Discover know right away as I caught the fraud. They issued me a new card and reassured me that I wont be charged for those transactions if they are not made by me. They did let me know they will also do an investigation regarding the dispute and that I need to file a police report as well. Which I did make. Police report is attached. After about 2-3 months Discover added that fraud charges back into my account. They said that the reason they found it to be not fraud was because the transactions were made around my home city, I shop at XXXX XXXX frequently and the person using my card made a return/exchange. I spoke to the container representative that their reasoning does not make it not fraud! I let them know I did not make those purchases and I will not be paying. I reached out to the police department regarding my case and they told me they closed the case because from their understanding Discover had already taken the fraud charges off my account. I had to explain to them that now Discover is saying from their investigation it is not fraud and the the XXXX didnt understand why when a suspect hasnt been identified. I dont understand how and why they approved all these large transactions. It does not match my spending patterns at all. Discover should have declined the transactions. My XXXX XXXX credit card was declined right away when the criminal who stole my card tried to use it.
