Consumer Narrative
I have repeatedly had issues with initiating disputes over the phone and in writing via mail to XXXX XXXX. The representatives after verifying my identity, and fraud alert that's in place will not process my inquiry disputes and constantly are giving loopholes that discouraging and complicated. The FCRA gives consumers the right to dispute inaccuracies on their report and dispute inquiries that are done without the consumers consent. Following that, I submitted in writing in XX/XX/2022, account disputes accompanied with copies of proof of identity and address, signed with my legal signature. XXXX refused to process the disputes in writing. Following XX/XX/2022, XXXX sent a generic letter that did not adequately explain why my dispute was not processed. So, I called and spoke with XXXX XXXX in special handling department, and she confirmed the dispute was not processed. She told me that they would not access my documents to process the disputes and even after she verified my identity, the dispute was not initiated as I requested. On XX/XX/2022, I contacted legal counsel and had a document mailed to XXXX making another request to initiate my dispute. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a notice of the dispute results and as a result the disputes, XXXX re-aged the accounts, where my delinquencies were showing updated as of the date they were disputed. This is unfair! The date updated should be when the creditor initially reported the derogatory information. The new date would delay the account falling off my credit report in 7-10 years by law. XXXX is very deceptive in its business practices, which is a violation of my consumer rights and the FCRA. I also have had negative experience with Equifax as well. This company never sent updated results of my credit disputes after the investigation was concluded and they re-aged my credit accounts as mentioned above whenever I dispute them. The date updated should be when the creditor initially reported the derogatory information. The new date would delay the account falling off my credit report in 7-10 years by law. Equifax is very deceptive in its business practices, which is a violation of my consumer rights and the FCRA.
