In XXXX I attended XXXX University for XXXX semester. My former employer XXXX XXXX was supposed to pay for it but didn't. In XXXX I was laid off due to the pandemic. I went months behind in rent and then when I got back to good standing, I attempted to make payment on the tuition. I made one payment in XXXX of XXXX and in XXXX I found out that it was sent to collections. I paid off everything in full once I found that out. Recently I tried applying for a house ( to rent ), and I have been denied upwards of XXXX applications due to this situation being on my credit report. I check my credit via Experian and XXXX, and turns out this was sent to collections in XXXX of XXXX and I had no knowledge of it, no communication was sent to me stating this. I have submitted several disputes to both Experian and XXXX attempting to remove this and all they have done is shorten the collection time period to the month of XXXX. There has to be some way to get this removed from my credit report, I have exceptional credit history and this is denying me housing applications.
