I am the co-borrower for my son 's private career training loan, which I have been paying for 12 years. Every monthly payment has been made on time except for last month ( XXXX, XXXX ) which could not be made because the lender 's computers were broken ; I called at the time to clarify what was wrong, at which time I was informed of the problem. I was assured that I would not be charged a late fee when making the payment. I was able to make make the XXXX payment through the lender 's computer payment system on XX/XX/2022. Upon making XXXX 's payment today, XX/XX/2022, there was a charge of {$51.00} for a late payment for XXXX 's bill. I called Navient. I, of course, got nowhere with the telephone clerk, who told me that she would send a message ; she could not tell me to whom she sent the message or the department to which she sent it. She further told me that there was no one with whom I could discuss the problem. I refused to pay the late fee and told her that I would contact the CFPB. The servicer/lender is Navient, which I think has its headquarters in Pennsylvania. I am furious that the computers that broke then charged me a late fee. Having no alternative and being shut out from speaking with anyone in authority at Navient, I have nowhere to turn other than the CFPB. Thank you.
