Consumer Narrative

I discovered on my credit report recently an account in my name for {$900.00} at a local hospital that was supposedly placed in collections in XXXX of XXXX. The problem is that I have never received a bill nor even a letter from any collections agency for this mystery bill, nor can anyone from the hospital tell me what the bill is supposedly for or why its showing as derogatory/in collections on my credit report. In fact, in XXXX of XXXX, I suffered an emergency XXXX XXXX in the middle of the night, resulting in an ER visit and many trips to various specialists, labs for blood work and XXXX XXXX, XXXX XXXX, and an XXXX. I have faithfully paid every medical bill that has come to my home since. I have lived at my current residence since XXXX, so letters from the last 4 years and roughly 8 months would come to my current address. Ive been asking, begging even for answers for months now, but as of this morning, XX/XX/XXXX, even the assistant director of patient financial services at the hospital can not tell me where the {$900.00} bill came from or why Im being reported for it. According to every single person in billing/patient accounts/financial services that Ive spoken to at the hospital, all of my accounts are current and being paid on time, which is precisely my own understanding, as Im the one who pays my medical bills and do not fail to do so. I am very protective of my finances and credit. My spouse and I have worked very hard for 8 years to finally buy our first home, and this surprise derogatory on my credit has made what should be a joyful time for us a complete nightmare. We are not able to move on with our lives until this is rectified due to the harm it could cause us financially. Ive paid thousands in copays and bills already to this very hospital, and this billing error needs to finally be fixed. I have emailed everyone I can email, including the acting president and CEO of the hospital, in hopes that someone will finally end this nightmare. XXXX recommended I come here to file a complaint since the collections agency that has this erroneous account is who is contacted for disputes, not the hospital, so of course, they say its all correct. I have all of the many emails saved to a PDF documenting the months Ive spent asking for answers and help resolving this, and I am happy to provide them in addition to the latest communications that Im including with this report. The file is more than XXXX and I could not upload it.
