Consumer Narrative

I had filed a complaint against Navient ( student loan company ) with CFPB XX/XX/XXXX. Through CFPB, Navient responded ; however, I later understood the response to be related to a bankruptcy filing, which Navient, in their response, stated : " The Administrative Forbearance placed on your account is in connection with a nationwide class action lawsuit, under an Agreed Order which is pending in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. '' I did not and have not filed for bankruptcy at any time in my adult life. I was not contacted about a bankruptcy lawsuit and the forbearance placed on this account by Navient or any other party associated with Navient. My XX/XX/XXXX complaint against Navient was in relation to the 39-state settlement reached with the states ' AGs in regards to Navient 's offshoot company Sallie Mae 's predatory student loan lending practices. I was primary on this loan and therefore should have been alerted to a bankruptcy filing and forbearance status placed on this student loan. Please see my XX/XX/XXXX complaint below. This complaint is based on the 39-stated settlement reached with the states AGs : XX/XX/XXXX complaint filed with CFPB " Navient has reached a 39-state settlement to clear student loans for thousands of students due to the attorneys general litigation via Navient 's ( offshoot of Sallie Mae ) predatory student loan lending practices. I took out such a loan in XXXX but did not attend for more than a few weeks due to a job offer and relocation to a different state. I tried to reach an amicable resolution with the lender but was not able to and the loan has increased from XXXX to XXXX. No payments have been made in several years, however the loan is being reflected as paying as agreed -- I suspect this may be in light of a stipulation in the 39-state settlement agreement. I have disputed the loan based on the press release and news reports of the settlement, but the credit bureaus are sticking with Navient 's claim that the loan stands. Please help me get this resolved and cleared from my credit report via part of the recent settlement agreement. The school I attended is on the list in the settlement. Thank you. '' XXXX XXXX
