I received a letter by mail from XXXX XXXX yesterday which was dated XX/XX/2022 stating that an application was received for a credit card account # XXXX, After careful review, the credit card account was unapproved, it was denied due to too many inquiries or applications for credit. I immediately called XXXX XXXX to report identity theft. On XX/XX/2022, I was checking my checking account where I noticed a small amount of {$0.00} was deposited and withdrawn by Capital One the following day. I also received a voice message from XXXX by phone from Capital One stating, that an application was open and that I had to contact them back regarding the open account. The voice message was inaudible and so quick that I had trouble deciphering which phone number to respond back to. On XX/XX/2022 my ex called me asking if I ever opened a credit card line with XXXX XXXX on XX/XX/2022 which, I replied I never opened one. I started calling XXXX XXXX, Capital One and XXXX credit fraud dept. to report that someone was using my identity to open up multiple credit card lines.
