On XX/XX/2022, I contacted XXXX XXXX XXXX regarding a collection attempt for a supposed debt that I owe. As is standard practice, I sent a letter of debt verification to the company and instructed in the letter for them to send me back a letter of debt verification as well as to take the debt off of my credit report while the debt was being verified. During this, I gave the company 30 days to verify the debt. 30 days passed and I heard nothing from XXXX XXXX, until one day I receive a letter from a new debt collection agency for the same amount of money and the debt was also placed on my credit report. It is my understanding that XXXX XXXX, instead of verifying my debt information and getting back to me accordingly, sold the debt to a different company and in the same breath placed the debt on my credit report.
