I received a call from a XXXX XXXX. The Person Identified as XXXX XXXX advised she would be visiting my home and workplace in an attempt to serve legal documents the next day. XXXX. Call received XXXX She advised that for questions or concerns I should contact XXXX, but did not identify the name of the company this number belong to. I contacted the number ( XXXX XXXX ), and was advised that I owed a debt, do to a closed checking account with a negative balance. I have not had a wells Fargo checking account since XXXX. I am XXXX XXXX XXXX. This is the first time, I have been contacted about this debt, and a XXXX XXXX Credit Report shows me in Good Standing with a current wells Fargo XXXX account that was opened recently to replace my Carpet. I was advised that I could either pay the debt owned today XXXX or if I waited for the process server, and I would be responsible to additional legal fees, brining the total to XXXX. I asked the person identified as XXXX XXXX if there could be some sort of verification provided, such a a debt validation letter. I asked for the website and address so that I could send the letter, but was advised they don't give out their address, and they don't have a website. I was advised that XXXX would not be providing any sort of debt validation as apparently other debt collection agencies had tried to contact me about the debt, and therefore I was not entitled to verification. They stated an old address from at least 15 years ago. I contacted Wells Fargo bank and spoke to numerous departments, none of which could confirm the information being provided by XXXX. The last person I spoke with at Wells Fargo advised me that they believed this was a scam and should be reported. I recorded this call and so did wells Fargo. Call occurred XXXX from my cell XXXX around XXXX XXXX XXXX. According to my own research, if this debt is true, it would be beyond the XXXX XXXX XXXX Statue of Limitations on companies filing civil suits based on debt. " Time-barred debt '' This regulation was added on XXXX XX/XX/2019 to the the FDCPA. On the call it was advised that the debt was owned by XXXX XXXX XXXX. I can not find a website, address or any other information for this company. If the original finical provider is able to confirm this debt, I would do the right thing and pay it, but Wells Fargo has no information on this debt, and based on what I have written here, they believe its a scam.
