I received a call today from a collections agency ( Amsher ) ( amsherconsumer.com ) from number XXXX asking to pay for {$1000.00}. Related to internet/cable service. originally I thought it was a fraudster attempting to get my credit card information and asked for the name of the company that did the report and account number. The Company is XXXX XXXX. I called the customer service line and the XXXX department and they informed that is an actual account under my name. However, the only information that matches my real information is name, date of birth and phone number The service was opened in XX/XX/XXXX - XX/XX/XXXX in New York. I never requested, authorized a service in NY and never lived in NY. XXXX is reviewing what happened and will get in contact with me within XX/XX/XXXX hours. A police report, a report with the three major credit reporting agencies and a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission is already requested.
