My husband and I received an Escrow Account Disclosure Statement from PennyMac dated XX/XX/XXXX with an estimated escrow shortage of {$340.00}. On XX/XX/XXXX, we paid the estimated escrow shortage of {$340.00} into the escrow account and then another {$200.00} on XX/XX/XXXX for a total of {$540.00}, so that the monthly payment would remain at {$1400.00}. Despite our covering the escrow shortage, PennyMac raised the monthly payment to {$1400.00} in XXXX, XXXX. I messaged PennyMac twice around XX/XX/XXXX but did not receive a response. On XX/XX/XXXX I spoke to a XXXX at PennyMac. She said that it is PennyMacs policy to require the Minimum Required Balance in the escrow account ( in this case {$400.00} ), which was her justification for the payment being raised. The {$400.00} Minimum Required Balance is still less than the {$540.00} that we paid into the escrow account, so we do not understand why PennyMac raised the monthly payment. A reasonable and fair resolution is for the monthly payment to remain at {$1400.00} since we have addressed the escrow shortage. We are unclear why this is an issue with PennyMac when it has not been an issue with any of our previous mortgages. We have requested that PennyMac respond by mail with a plan to resolve this issue.
