Ive received several phone calls and voice messages from a company by the name of Hunter Warfield. Each time they left a voice message, they spoke very fast and unclearly about who they were and what number I could call back on. They phone number they did provide was much different than the one that appeared on the screen when they called. On XX/XX/XXXX, I received another call and voicemail at XXXX. I called back at XXXX pm and spoke with a man that told me I owed approximately {$1000.00} for potential gross rent. When I asked what it was for, he stated that I was the guarantor on a contract and that I owed this money. He could not reference the exact contract nor the section of the contract that indicated I was responsible for such fees. The representative also failed to mention the name of the company I allegedly owed this debt to and did not offer to send me a copy of any statements regarding such debt. I assumed he was referring to my late fathers apartment complex. I informed him that my father passed away XX/XX/XXXX and that his belongings were cleared out of the unit by XX/XX/XXXX. The key was returned to the management office the morning of XX/XX/XXXX. The rent was paid in full and up to date until the end of the month. I offered to send in a copy of the proof of death which the property management already has on file. The Hunter Warfield rep stated that he was sorry to hear but that I still owed this debt because I signed a contract. He also stated I didnt need to send anything as his company would reach out to the property manager. To date, I have not received any bills or notifications from the apartment complex that any money is owed to them. I have not had time to fully mourn the loss of my father and to receive calls barely 3 months after his passing, from a debt collector about a debt I have no knowledge of is insulting and disrespectful. I will seek legal action if I continue to get any calls or see any negative items placed on my credit report as a result of this torment.
