This complaint is about Capital One, not a credit reporting agency. I applied for a business credit card for my small business in early XXXX. Capital One used my personal credit information to adjudge whether or not I should be given the card, which is fine. I checked my credit score before applying on Capital One 's own website ( as well as XXXX XXXX and Bank XXXX XXXX ) and it was XXXX before I applied, and after the most recent monthly update of XX/XX/XXXX. Unbelievably, I was denied the card due to what Capital One claimed was " number of delinquent past or present credit obligations ''. I immediately knew this was not accurate ( an XXXX XXXX XXXX is not possible with delinquent accounts firstly ) as I do not have, and have never had, a delinquent account. I asked Capital One for an explanation and they said " ask XXXX ''. So I pulled my XXXX report and as expected there were no past or present delinquent accounts on my report. XXXX confirmed there were none reported as well. I contacted Capital One and asked to escalate my complaint, indicating that I had the credit report they claimed to have used and it did not indicate the problem they said existed. I insisted that I speak to the person, or people, who made this decision. Capital One said I could not talk to the department involved. I again explained I had evidence of incorrect information being used to decline my application, but they refused to provide any possible way to address the problem. Further, they refused to give me an email address so I could communicate my complaint in writing. I did mail them a letter and they responded on XXXX XXXX giving me the exact same phone number to call that I had already exhausted. A circuitous stonewall with no definable outcome available. This is not how this is supposed to work. Capital One should not be able to decline my application based on made-up information, then refuse to give me a means to dispute it. Further, I am not sure how it is even ethical to reject someone with an XXXX XXXXredit scorXXXX ( it has now gone down due to Capital One 's inquiry of course ). I have attached the declination letter from Capital One, my XXXX credit report clearly showing zero delinquent accounts and a screenshot of my credit score history from the Captial One CreditWise page that shows my score at XXXX last month when I applied, as well as B of A score at XXXX at the end of XXXX and XXXX XXXX in XXXX at XXXX.
