I opened an account with Veteran 's United Home Loans around XXXX. I did not follow through with opening a loan that that time. About a month ago I contacted Veterans United to proceed with applying for a home loan. I was attempting to login into my account and kept receiving an error message stating " Incorrect Email Address or Password ''. I spoke with the technical support team and was informed that the email " XXXX '' was the email attached to my account. I informed them that this email was not mine and I had no relation to anyone named XXXX XXXX. The technical support team reset the email on my account. I then logged in with my email " XXXX '' and my password. I successfully logged in to my account. The account required verification of my last 4 of my social security number. I entered my last 4 of my SSN and received an error message stating that the last 4 of my SSN were incorrect. I again called the technical support team and was told my account had to be reset. They reset the account. This issue was re-occurring for weeks, until yesterday afternoon, XX/XX/XXXX. I successfully logged in to my account yesterday afternoon and went to upload my required documents to move forward with preapproval for a home loan. Upon opening the documents tab, I found XXXX XXXX 's documentation. Her driver 's license was in my account, her VA document with proof of disability rating and VA entitlements was uploaded with her address and last 4 of her SSN was in my account, and her LES- Military Earnings Statement, with her full name, DOB , last 4 of her SSN, and all of her military information was also in my account. This is a violation of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA ) and Health XXXXnformation Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act ( HITECH ), he Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ), The Privacy Act of XXXX, The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act ( SCRA ), and many other laws protecting personally identifiable information, military records, credit and financial information/ documentation, medical documentation, and disabilities. I am greatly concerned with the negligence Veterans United has shown in protecting the information and privacy of XXXX XXXX information, as well as my own.
