I recently submitted an application for a Balance Transfer Credit Card to Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. They responded that they were unable to approve my request because a Credit bureau report shows consumer status as deceased. They falsely claimed this information was provided to them by XXXX, which is clearly not true. Copies of Wells Fargo rejection letter and the XXXX report are being submitted herewith. The Wells Fargo form-letter is signed by the Credit Department and provides no contact names or addresses, only a phone number. As you can see, the XXXX report ( # XXXX ) says nothing about me being deceased. It also shows I have excellent credit. I certainly dont deserve to have false information reported about me, nor does anyone else who may have applied. The bottom line is the reason given for my rejection is false. It has nothing to do with XXXX, and everything to do with an error or incompetence or questionable practices on Wells Fargos part. I would pursue the application with them directly, but at this point, I have no desire to have their credit card or to do business with them. I just want to make sure they discontinue these practices of providing false information about/to future applicants and/or denying applications based on false information. I strongly resent that addressing this issue took a substantial amount of my personal time to check all my accounts for identity theft, fraud, etc.
