I submitted the following complaint on XX/XX/XXXX with the XXXX and received the response that this complaint did not fall under XXXX parameters and to instead seek remedy with the CFPB. They may have also forwarded this complaint to you, but it was not clear the method. To avoid the risk of it being delivered by postal mail and delaying a response I am submitting this complaint. My complaint submitted with them is the following : I applied for the PenFed Pathfinder Signature Rewards credit card on XX/XX/XXXX and was approved. At the time I had a PenFed Access Checking account which allowed for the credit card to receive an annual fee waiver. I closed the Access Checking account on XX/XX/XXXX. I was then charged an annual fee on the credit card XX/XX/XXXX that reads " ANNUAL CHARGE XX/XX/XXXX THROUGH XX/XX/XXXX REFERENCE ID : XXXX '' Per PenFed 's website it states the following under the annual fee waiver for the credit card : " ***As a PenFed Pathfinder Rewards cardholder, if you qualify for Honors Advantage ( member of the military or XXXX XXXXXXXX or Free Checking account holder ) at the time of the application, we will waive the annual fee on your account. If you were not eligible at account opening, but subsequently become eligible, the annual fee will be waived on your next anniversary. If at any time, you fail to maintain the eligibility requirements, you will no longer be eligible for the waiver. You will receive advance notice of this change. I did receive an email on XX/XX/XXXX from PenFed informing me the card was no longer receiving the same reward points as it was previously, but nowhere in the email is it mentioned regarding the annual fee. Additionally, the language reads as an ANNUAL fee waiver. I opened this card on XX/XX/XXXX and the charge I received on XX/XX/XXXX indicates it is for XX/XX/XXXX Through XX/XX/XXXX. When I called on XX/XX/XXXX and spoke with a representative, she informed me that the annual fee would not be credited back and even if I closed the account I would still be subject to the entire {$95.00}, despite not receiving the full year of the card. I then inquired what would happen if I closed the account and she informed me the {$95.00} would be sent to collections. I stated I would not be closing it and would file a complaint as this was unsatisfactory. At no time did the representative offer any other alternatives. I seek a speedy resolution because I was not informed in advance of this by the credit union and they are requesting the {$95.00} by XX/XX/XXXX.
