Consumer Narrative

Dear CFPB team, Our company took over a lease from an individual of XXXX XXXX XXXX, which came into effect in XX/XX/XXXX as signed by Toyota Financial Services agreement. As a part of the lease transfer deal we obtained a fuel card worth {$15000.00}, which was assigned to the car at the moment of the lease transfer and worked fine, and we used this car to fuel the leased vehicle. As of XX/XX/XXXX the fuel card stopped working ( due to Toyotas internal card provider switch ), and when called Toyota Brand Engagement Center that handles Toyota Mirai we were informed that the card is non-transferable to the new owner, and this is the first time we learned about it. We opened a complaint case number with Toyota Financial Services ( Case # XXXX ) and with Toyota Brand Engagement Center ( Complaint # XXXX ) but didn't receive a positive outcome to resolve the case. Toyota XXXX XXXX center XXXX Specialist by name XXXX informed me on XX/XX/XXXX that fuel card 's non-transferable status is printed on the card, and while this is indeed the case ( in small print ), we didn't know about this from the lease transfer agreement at the time of its signing. The fact that the card was fully operational until Toyota moved to ta new card provider on XX/XX/XXXX also proves that the card was effectively transferred for our use 100 percent. I argued with XXXX that " non-transferable '' status makes sense in a way that it is non-transferable to a different car, because it was originally assigned to the same car we took over as a lessee, and there was no documentation available that the card was non-transferable to a new lessee in the lease agreement or anywhere else. Remaining value of the fuel card 's balance is at least {$7500.00}, and we as a new lessee would like to seek compensation from Toyota for lost value as we assigned this value to the lease contract when we took over the car lease. Please kindly help us get Toyota to bear full responsibility for their covert actions to strip our company of at least {$7500.00} value in our contract and pay us this compensation in full by a check or other means. Thank you. Dear ___ : We appreciate you taking the time to contact the Toyota XXXX XXXX XXXX. We are dedicated to providing superior service. Your case is filed at our headquarters office under your name and file XXXX. If you require further assistance, please contact us directly at XXXX. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from XXXX a.m. XXXX p.m. XXXX, and Saturday from XXXX a.m. XXXX p.m. XXXX. Sincerely, Toyota XXXX XXXX XXXX
