I wanted to rent a house from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX with a move in date of XX/XX/2022. The address of which is XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX NC. On XX/XX/2022 my application was verbally approved over the phone and they emailed me a link to pay the first month 's rent of the advertised {$1600.00}. I followed the email link to their website where it requested me to pay the first month of rent where I paid {$1600.00} by checking account. A few hours after paying I received an email link to review the lease in my email. The lease was around 40 pages long and very aggressive towards tenants rights. The monthly payment amount was higher than the advertised amount due to administrative fees and ongoing maintenance fees along with move-in and move out fees and lease preparation fees. The total amount for the yearly term would have been much more than they advertised so I declined to sign the lease. Beginning XX/XX/2022 I've made several phone calls to their office to request a refund since I never entered into a contract with them. They stated the amount I paid is non-refundable which I was never notified of. I also received an application denial notice in my email from them. I contacted my bank, Wells Fargo, on XX/XX/2022 to submit a claim and after a few days the claim was denied. Wells Fargo will not assist me in returning my money from the vendor which I feel was deceiving and scammed me. This is my attempt to get a refund before filing a claim in small claims court against XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX
