Consumer Narrative
In XX/XX/XXXX, I received notice on my credit report that I had a " major derogatory mark '' on my credit report relating to my XXXX XXXX Account, filed by a debt collection agency Credit Management LP ( based in Texas ) that bought the debt from XXXX, allegedly stemming from a XXXX XXXX account that I closed and paid off around XX/XX/XXXX since XXXX 's services did not extend to my new location. XXXX and Credit Management failed to provide me with notice of such debt and the late payments, and they presently refuse to remove the credit report off my history despite me paying the {$140.00}, which I do not think I owe them. My credit score now has dropped XXXX points and have a major derogatory mark on it. While I have limited access to my XXXX account and XXXX provides little to no documentation for closed accounts, XXXX charged me an additional $ 140~ after the close of my account in XX/XX/XXXX ; provided no notice before the account was closed of such owed payment ; and I received no notice by XXXX or Credit Management LP re : late payment until the debt was already in collections and on my credit report. On XX/XX/XXXX, XXXX also informed me that they do not provide email notices of late bills for closed accounts even though I was signed up for e-billing during my relationship with XXXX, and they only send paper bills to the closed account address despite knowing I was no longer there at such address and without informing me of such policy or the alleged bill when I called in to close my account. In short, there was no way for me to know any potential bill existed because of XXXX 's policies on closed accounts and notices, in addition to thinking I had closed the account back in XX/XX/XXXX after paying off the final bill and returning the equipment to XXXX. I reached out to the Credit Management LP ( debt collector whom bought the debt from XXXX XXXX and XXXX XXXX - both claim they can not remove the debt off my report even though I received no notice of such payment and even paid off the debt so it is a zero balance and closed account.
