After years of never looking at my credit report, I applied for credit and was told I have an old collection item. I contacted XXXX and was told they are collecting for another company, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. They said that they were collecting for an anesthesiologist but could not give me the name of the doctor. I was then told that I could contact the hospital records department for that information. The hospital records department said the item is too old and I should contact the hospital records archive department. It became clear the collection agency XXXX was having me do their work in trying to verify the legitimacy of debt. I wrote to XXXX demanding proof that I signed any document or otherwise verbally agreed to pay for an anesthesiologist that I don't recall ever meeting or using their services. I asked for a response within 30 days. The response came in the form of an invoice from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. The invoice had my name and a dollar amount due but had no authorizing signature as I requested. A second demand letter was sent explaining that they clearly missed the entire purpose of my first letter. I asked for a complete and adequate response within 15 days. XXXX and XXXX XXXX XXXX services have not removed this negative item from my Experian or XXXX credit reports. Now I seek your help.
