Consumer Narrative
In XX/XX/2021 I received a car insurance renewal letter from my XXXX agent, XXXX XXXX. I sent an email to XXXX advising her that I didn't plan to renew. XXXX collects payments a month in advance, which meant I did not owe for the month of XXXX. XXXX sent me a billing invoice in spite of our cancellation correspondence, for {$220.00}. I contacted XXXX once again and she advised she needed my new auto insurance policy in order to cancel my account. I forwarded XXXX the requested information via email. However, in XX/XX/2021 I received another bill for {$220.00}. I then contacted the XXXX consumer services department, the representative who assisted me was XXXX, XXXX. XXXX advised that she would address the matter. In XX/XX/2021 I received an email from XXXX advising me that the investigation was completed and my account would be updated accordingly. Shortly after receiving that email and within the same month I received a collections letter from Credit Collection Services ( CCS ) for {$120.00}, less {$100.00} of the originally reported XXXX balance. I contacted CCS immediately and advised them of the aforementioned. I informed them that the account balance was inaccurate and would soon reflect a {$0.00} balance. The representative with CCS advised me that my account would be placed " on hold '' until further investigation. I forwarded them supporting documentation which included my email correspondence with XXXX. I continued to receive collections letters in XXXX and XXXX. In XX/XX/2021 I received a letter from CCS advising that the balance due was valid. I attempted to reach out to XXXX more than XXXX times via email and phone, but she never returned my calls or responded to my emails. I contacted the office of my XXXX agent and the representative that assisted me advised that there was nothing they could do to assist me once the account has been transferred to collections. I questioned the policies and standards that stated an account with an active dispute could be sent to collections without notifying the consumer. The representative did not respond. To avoid damage to my credit, considering the unwillingness of XXXX to adequately address this matter, I paid CCS {$120.00}, the amount of the alleged debt. This month CCS sent my account to XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, which they advised me they would not do. To add, they reported that the debt had been outstanding since XX/XX/2021. This action appears malicious, biased, and a complete violation of my consumer rights.
