Hello Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, In XX/XX/XXXX, I received a mail offer from XXXX XXXX saying I was prequalified for a credit card. I submitted my information through an online portal and was approved for a credit limit of {$400.00}. In XXXX I used the card to make one purchase for around ~ {$110.00} and when I went in to pay my bill, I noticed that there was an extra charge added. After calling the company, I was informed that it was a yearly fee for the card. I think it was around {$50.00} or so. I am very aware of these kinds of fees because I also opened up a XXXX and XXXX XXXX card around the same time. After much deliberation and escalation, I paid off the one purchase I made and closed the card because : XXXX ) I was not aware of the yearly fee XXXX ) It was not mentioned in the flyer or the online application process. The tier 2/3 customer support representative said the yearly fees would be waived and at that point, I thought this situation would be over. After 1-2 Weeks XXXX XXXX called me up to 10 times per day for nearly 2-3 weeks. When I asked what was going on, they said the yearly fee had not been waived and they also added on multiple charges/late fees. Please note that at this time, the account was supposed to have been closed but the customer support agent insisted that I have to pay. Somewhere between 50-60 ignored calls later for which they harassed me up to 10 times throughout the day ( even after I had told them that the situation, the next day a new agent would call me ) Finally, I got fed up on a phone call with them and went through the whole cycle again. Same story : late fees, services fees, and extra charges. However this time I told them if they didn't stop calling me I would sue them for harassment. They stopped the calls, but are now reporting the debt to credit reporting agencies and as of today ( XX/XX/XXXX ) the charges have gone up to {$68.00} and delinquent. At this point, I googled what to do and found your agency. I would like to bring up XXXX points of contention with XXXX XXXX XXXX ) Mismarketing their offer in their flyers/application process and deliberately withholding that there is a yearly fee associated with their credit card. XXXX ) Harassment by calling me nearly 10 times per day over 2-3 weeks, even after having a discussion and being aware of the situation. XXXX ) Adding random late fees and charges to my closed account with them and reporting the balance as delinquent to credit reporting agencies. I am XXXX years old and have been good at paying back my debts over the years. Student loans, other cards, car loans, utilities, etc. However, this reporting is now affecting my credit score and is frankly not fair. If you could please help me resolve this, I would like to put it behind me and move on with my life having learned a lesson.
