In XXXX, i disputed an account that I recognize as not being mine. This was listed as a chargeoff. Because I am trying to finance a major purchase, I paid the chargeoff, and was told that they would delete the account entirely ( by the creditor ). They did not do so. I disputed this account on the tranunion web site, and received notice that they 'verified the debt as accurate '. I am challenging how this investigation was performed, because the results were delivered VERY quickly. The US Supreme Court has already ruled that they must conduct an investigation independently and can not just take the work of the creditor. The speed with which the dispute was completed dictates that Transunion likely used the XXXX system that they partially own, to verify this debt. Adding insult to injury, their online dispute process is flawed ( by design, i'm sure ). They is NO mechanism by which to upload supporting documents, no mechanism to email supporting documents, and no mechanism to fax supporting documents ... despite these options ALL being mentioned as available. I do believe that Transunion is violation the Fair Credit Reporting Act, in several ways. 1, they arent conducting an independent investigation. 2. They are NOT providing me with written results of the investigation. 3. they are NOT supplying the method of verification despite being asked politely, and 4 they are making it intentionally difficult for anyone to submit a dispute. 210 characters to explain a complex financial situation? No method by which I can respond or escalate the dispute? Further, it seems that in an age of instant information, within moments of using a credit card my balance is updated on my credit report. Why exactly is it that it takes over XXXX weeks to reflect payments on those same accounts? It is 2022. We have a larger number of communication mediums available to us than at any time in the history of mankind. Transunion is limiting them tremendously, and manipulating the ones that they do make available. This is a material violation of the FCRA< but frankly I believe is also fraudulent activity on the part of the agency I am supposed to trust with my information.
