Consumer Narrative
I held a lease with Audi Financial XXXX VW Credit and the lease was cut short six months early because of a vehicle accident in which the XXXX XXXX was totaled. Instead of acting fairly with me in the event of this accident, the company did not offer me to get a vehicle swap after the accident ( despite that being part of my lease ), nor did it give back a car payment made one day before the accident date at a prorated amount. It kept the entire payment on the grounds that it was my contractual obligation to pay them even without use of the car. The company offered no legal reason for keeping that car payment. It also kept more than {$10000.00} in overage fees paid by my insurance carrier, despite a clause in the vehicle lease that states I would be entitled to the overage payment in the event of a total loss. The company said they are the owners of the car and therefore get to benefit from any overage, so they in essence profited from my accident. The company 's own salespeople were shocked by this treatment. In addition, the company said that it could not take my bank off its autopayment service, so I would have to keep making payments for the car even though it was paid off in full for the car by my insurance carrier. Instead, it referred me to its web site to stop the autopayment function. Yet it's web site did not work and there was no way to unhook from its financial autopayments on the site. A woman at Audi Financial said she would mail me a form to get off autopayment and that form took two weeks to arrive ( past the date of the next scheduled payment for a car I no longer used ), so the company is doing everything in its power to keep cashing checks instead of looking out for its customers. When I asked for a number to complain to the company, a representative gave me a special number. When I called, there was a XXXX hour wait to reach a human.
