The original balance was {$2100.00} and I paid $ XXXX monthly for over a year. The account was opened pre-pandemic in XXXX and in XX/XX/XXXX because of the pandemic my salary was reduced by 10 % and I couldnt keep up with the payments. I tried to make arrangements for a lower amount and it was not accepted. I was willing to make smaller payments during the pandemic until my salary was restored. The original creditor ( XXXX ) sent the account to collection without my knowledge. I recently noticed an entry in my credit report for a collection in the amount of {$2900.00} which is more than what I owe. I did receive a threatening message from the collection agency about a week ago stating they have all my information and will show up at my place of employment or at my house and even called my Mothers house giving her details. Most people during the pandemic suffered losses and my intentions was never to NOT pay whats due and this is why I had already made over XXXX consecutive payments on the account. I think the collection agency is taking advantage of the pandemic knowing most people suffered some type of loss. They want to hurt people by adding a collection in their credit report which is not fair.
