My wife was a victim of identity theft, so out of precaution we checked my credit report and found an open file from Acima Credit, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX FL XXXX, XXXX, UT XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) with XXXX ( only XXXX, not the other XXXX reporting agencies ). We had never heard of Acima, and have not applied for any payday loans, rent to own loans, etc... ever. We attempted to resolve it ourselves with XXXX to no avail, then we involved XXXX XXXX with XXXX XXXX XXXX ( O : XXXX |EXT XXXX / Fax : XXXX ). Together we spoke with a representative from Acima, who could not help us over the but said they would look into the matter. XXXX suggested it was probably just a clerical error with XXXX, so we filed a dispute with them and waited the allotted time for them to look into the claim. I just received their response stating they will not remove it from my credit because they said " The company that reported the information has certified to XXXX that the information is accurate. '' Again, I know this information is not correct, because I have NEVER applied for ANYTHING with this company.
