I was recently trying to settle charged off account with a company called Oportune. During XXXX, covid hit my family and myself and I was devastated financially. I was out of work and unable to pay back my account and as a result was charged off in XXXX of XXXX as bad debt and written off due to natural disaster. The original amount was {$2100.00}, but they balooned it up to {$2900.00} in 5 months. My family still sits in peril after the results of losing lives and jobs due to XXXX, but I want to move on. Oportune agreed to settle and already charged off account in the amount of {$1000.00}. which the asked me to agree to by XX/XX/XXXX. I sent them an email and text agreeing to the settlement before the deadline and when i called to pay they denied any agreement and told me only the full amount would be accepted. I just wish to pay the amount the offered immediately and have this account settled as they themselves proposed, not me. All I want them to do is honor the settlement offer they proposed and get this over with. My family has been devastated enough and this would be a start in the right direction. Attached are copies of the email and my response to the email they deny getting.
