I received a notice of debt owed today XX/XX/XXXX from Commonwealth Financial Systems in the amount of {$69.00}. I had no idea what this was for or that it was even valid so I called them to confirm they were legit and asked what this debt was tied to and when it was from. I was told that Commonwealth Financial Systems filed this on my credit bureau PRIOR to my even getting the notice and that if I paid it then they would remove it from my credit bureau. I told them that I had to first confirm it was a legit medical charge and then I would be glad to pay a valid bill, but I was very upset that they chose to report this to my credit bureau even before I received a bill. This is very unethical and very poor business practice. They said this was from a hospital bill from XX/XX/XXXX so this is 6 years old and this is the first notice that I have received for this medical bill. They filed a derogatory debt on my credit bureau BEFORE they even sent a bill out to me.
