Capital One is not allowing me to access or close my account. I called into customer service on XX/XX/2022. The representative told me that I would need to speak with another department. She transferred the call to a department that did not have any live personnel available, so I left a detailed message with all of my information. I allowed 24 hours to pass, as instructed be the representative but no one called me back. I called in the morning, XX/XX/2022, the customers representative transferred the call to the customer protection department. I was connected to XXXX XXXX agent id XXXX ), she was very rude antagonizing and accusing me of fraudulent activity. She went on to say that Capital One has decide to discontinue business and services but I can not withdraw my funds or close the account. Also, I can not check my account to retrieve any supporting documentation to submit for my claim against Capital One. I asked XXXX to connect the call over to a supervisor because she refused to assist me any further and decline to give me her agent id number. I has able to speak with XXXX XXXX agent id XXXX ), she identified herself as the acting supervisor. I asked XXXX to explain the following : If Capital One has discontinued financial services why is the account still open and if the account is still open why can't I have access to check my account to access bank statements? She told me that I will not have access and the only communication will be through email. I told her that if my account is still open legally I should be able to access my account to acquire bank statements. This leaves me at a disadvantage because I can not provide any supporting documentation to assist the CFPB with my claim. Capital One is yet again using shady business tactics to hold consumers responsible for their inability to protect financial accounts and accept any responsibility for the failure to do so.
