I have been looking into purchasing a new home mortgage since XXXX of XXXX. Since then, I've interviewed 3 mortgage companies shopping around for the best rate, which is recommended. However, the housing market has made it difficult with low inventory and inflated pricing. Our search has taken way longer than anticipated. Since having to inquire with multiple companies over time. In this housing market it is necessary, for credit bureaus to make some adjustments to the length of time mortgage companies are allowed access to scores without impacting the borrowers credit score. I am not inquiring on multiple different loan types or even loan needs. These inquiries were all for a primary home starting in XXXX XXXX. Please take a look at the duplicate mortgage inquires and prescreening inquiry and delete multiples. I started with the most recent, XXXX or XXXX XXXX XXXX, who was offering a down payment assistance program ( on a specific property we were interested in ) and required a credit check in order to verify eligibility and check rates. The offer sounded like a great program, but the rates offered were much higher than others, the loan officer is rarely available and hasn't answered questions about interest rates or APR, leaving me to believe they are an unreliable banking source.
