Consumer Narrative

I paid off my car back in XX/XX/XXXX a title was sent to me with the company Sol acceptance listed as the lien holder. I have been unsuccessful at getting a clear title for my XXXX XXXX XXXX. I asked for a hardship to waive the {$20.00} fee that can only be paid via a XXXX XXXX and they charge a fee. I went to the DMV today XX/XX/XXXX and was a informed that SOL acceptance should not be charging me a fee, to prove my car loan was paid off. Sol acceptance stand their growing and wont wave the fee. I am experiencing a hardship finically and ask for a waiver. Sol acceptance DMVS Electronic Lien and Title ( ELT ) Program denied it. I had to borrow money from an abusive ex to get the money to Sol acceptance. I was involved in a bad car accident which I am recovering and have not received any XXXX or insurance payout. Therefore {$24.00} is a lot money for me. I dont understand why I have to pay a fee to have Sol acceptance release off my title. When the DMV tells me I should not be charged a fee and that once my car was paid off the lender was suppose to notify DMV. According to the DMV sol acceptance participate in the electronic lien and title. Once a consumer pays off the loan Sol acceptance complete the necessary paperwork online to release them off the title. Instead they sent me the title advising me it was my responsibility once the mailed the title to me along with a paragraph letter stating my loan was paid off, that I had to reach out to the DMV. Only to be told by the DMV that I would have still need the lender to provide me with a signed form reg 166 to remove the lender. All I know is Sol acceptance is telling me something different than what DMV is stating. Of all my years of getting a clear title after paying off the loan. This is the first issue I have had all other lenders sent me a clear title not Sol acceptance. To the DMV it looks as if I still owe them. Which I dont owe them any money. They sent me a check for overage payment but no clear title.
