On XX/XX/XXXX I purchased a used car and financed {$29000.00} with Capitol One Auto Loans. I signed up online for automatic payments and chose the " weekly payments '' option offered by Capitol One. The first payment as made automatically on XX/XX/XXXX, second payment on XX/XX/XXXX but then I was charged a late fee on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I received a call from Capitol One saying I was delinquent, I was able to get them to agree that I wasn't delinquent. As of XX/XX/XXXX my account still shows I'm delinquent and that I've been assessed a late fee. I called Capitol One today, XX/XX/XXXX, they wanted to grant me a one time late fee forgiveness but I should never have been charged a late fee in the first place. I refused the offer and got them to agree that I shouldn't have been charged a fee in the first place. They claim that they will correct my account once the claim is reviewed by another department. I'm filing this complaint because this should never have happened in the first place and if I hadn't been vigilant about checking my account I could have paid several incorrect fees and possible damaged my credit. To me this seems to be a trap set up by Capitol One to get consumers to pay fees that never should have been charged in the first place, if it happened to me it must be a common occurrence.
