Consumer Narrative

I received a statement from Wells Fargo telling me that I have a new account. That was started on XX/XX/XXXX. I called them right away to claim that this is fraud and that I NEVER opened a checking or savings account with Wells Fargo. I asked them to cancel the account. Now I have a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX telling me that they can not close the account due to a bank restriction. It is their bank! What is going on? Are they back to the old tricks of opening accounts for people without permission?
