Consumer Narrative

I bought a pre-paid XXXX phone ... ..NO CONTRACT and NO AUTHORIZATION to auto-deduct payments from my checking account. XXXX was the XXXX number assigned to my device. Again, this was a PRE-PAID cell service. I had paid PRIOR to every month using my debit card. After a while, I noticed on my bank statement that XXXX was illegally auto-deducting money from my account WITHOUT my knowledge or approval. In addition, the amount that XXXX began illegally auto-deducting from my checking account was significantly more than the advertised, quoted, agreed upon monthly pre-paid payment. After noticing, I tried several times to cancel my service via the XXXX app. The app was not working correctly, so I called XXXX and spoke with a lady ( XXXX representative ) about my unfortunate experience. I was very upset and made it clear that I would no longer use XXXX because of the illegal auto-deductions and overcharges. I made it very clear that I wanted a refund for the overcharges, my Sprint account ( phone number ) to be closed immediately, and the illegal auto-deductions to STOP. Per our conversation, she agreed to close my account ( phone number ) immediately, but couldn't authorize a refund for the overcharges. She then stated that another XXXX representative would call me within a few days to talk about the 'refund ' part of my request/statement. I never received that call. I did however notice that XXXX stopped making the illegal auto-deduction withdrawals from my checking account. Unfortunately, many months later, I discovered via XXXX XXXX that XXXX sent my account ( phone # ) to collections with a bogus balance. I do not believe I'm the only victim.
