Consumer Narrative
I am facing the possibility of homelessness of me and my family. I was an employee at XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX for 35 years and they did a Reduction in Force and my job ended without any notification. I was never given any notice of a possible Reduction in Force which would have given me an opportunity to save some additional money. I had a good payment history with my mortgage company before this life altering event occurred. After I lost my job I began to fall behind on my mortgage payments. I did visit agencies to get assistance but I was turned down because funding was depleted and no longer available where I reside in XXXX DC after going to several HUD approved housing counselors. After I was released from my employer, I spent countless hours applying for jobs and going on interviews. In XX/XX/2017, I lost my mother suddenly of a XXXX and she did not have any life insurance. I was responsible for providing a burial for her and depleted the rest of my savings. Immediately, after I lost my job I contacted my mortgage company to see if I would be able to get a loan modification to keep me from losing my home. I worked hard to purchase this home and I have lived there for 14 years. I am trying to upload the mitigation application I filled out but I am unsuccessful. I would like to forward that as well. Since 2017, I have been contacting Servicing Corporation to ask if I would be able to get a forbearance or loan modification based on my situation of underemployment. I have several correspondences since this year to current asking for the servicing company to reach out to the investor for assistance to prevent foreclosure and I also informed them I am elderly. This company and the investor has refused to work with me in any way. For the past 4 years according to my tax payments, each year {$7000.00} is being paid to the investor and only XXXX is being applied to the principal loan of my mortgage at a rate of XXXX percent. I have tried to get my house refinanced but have been unsuccessful as well. With such little amount going to the principal of my loan it does not reduce much the amount of the loan owed on my property. The officer that has my loan continues to request money that I am not able to pay and seems as if they are doing all they can in their power to ensure my property goes into foreclosure. The investor is refusing to assist in any way. In addition, since this company has taken over my loan it is not being reported on my credit which is hindering me from being able to possibly get a refinance because there is no record of payment. I have asked this company for years to report my mortgage and its payments on my credit so that I am in a better position to request a refinance for lower payments. This company is aware that my property is worth three times the amount of the loan left and seems to be predatory in the manner which they are handling my loan. I was forced to file a Chapter XXXX to save my property because this lender refused to work with me which cause my credit to decrease, I have made improvements on my credit but I am still in a situation in which this lender is unwilling to assist me with any modification. They have continued to decline a loan modification without a clear precise reason as to why. I had also reached out to housing counseling services in Washington DC and this servicing company still refused to assist. I am also attaching the application I was requested to complete from the servicing company and was still denied assistance.
