On approx. XXXX/XXXX/21 I was the victim of identity theft, which I promptly discovered. As a result of this identity theft, I had 2 fraudulent " hard '' credit inquiries on my credit reports. I was able to fully resolve this, except for Equifax. Equifax requested very specific documentation to remove the 2 fraudulent " hard '' credit inquiries ( namely : " XXXX XXXX of XXXX... '' & " XXXX XXXX XXXX ... '' ). Equifax wanted a letter from me, copies of ID, and a police report ( please see all of this attached here to this complaint ). I mailed the documentation Equifax requested to them on XXXX/XXXX/21. Today ( XXXX/XXXX/21 ) I checked my Equifax credit report, and the 2 fraudulent " hard '' inquiries are still on my report. I invested hours on the phone trying to figure out why the fraudulent inquiries were still in my report. Equifax acknowledged receipt of the data I provided to them via XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX, but indicated the documentation was deficient in that the police report was not dated. I told Equifax to check the data again, as the police report was dated. Equifax acknowledged the police report was dated, but told me I would have to submit the documentation again. They were very unprofessional. Given that I have supplied ample evidence that the " hard '' credit inquires I am disputing are fraudulent, as precisely requested by Equifax and in accordance with federal law, I would like CFPB to please help me get Equifax to remove the fraudulent " hard '' credit inquiries from my credit report, please. Thank you.
