Consumer Narrative

On XX/XX/XXXX, I attempted to apply for a CapitalOne checking account. I was prompted by the system that something went wrong. I was invited to apply again. After several unsuccessful attempts I finally called CapitalOne. I was told that I had actually been denied an account. There was no explanation as to why. I did not receive any communication from CapitalOne as to what consumer reports were used in the decision. I was told the decision was final and there was no further information available other than that I've been denied an account. I was also told that I am not entitled to know why I was denied an account, but without that information, how can I dispute any inaccurate or outdated information? I was told this stemmed from an account in XXXX. That seems outdated, but again, I was told I could not be furnished this information. I'd like my rights under the FCRA respected. I was not told what information was used against me in this decision. I was not told which consumer reports, if any, were used in this decision, meaning I can not request a free copy of any reports used. I was told I did not have a right to know what's in my file ( e.g., what information/accounts CapitalOne was referring to ), only that the decision was final. Again, I can not ask for a credit score, because I do not know what consumer reports were used.
