Consumer Narrative
On XXXX, my mother gave me a letter that she received in her mail. The letter was from a collection agency XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX demanding payment for a XXXX XXXX bank. I remember my mother paying off my debt I owed to the bank. My mother had a copy of, proof of payment through a different collection agency for the same thing. Therefore I took the letter to the bank and asked why i received this letter knowing the debt was paid. The lady at the bank took a copy of it and let me know not to worry about it. In XXXX of XXXX I noticed i was being garnished from a liberty acquisitions servicing llc for {$21000.00} since XX/XX/XXXX. I was mortified! I found out this garnishment was for XXXX XXXX. I started calling around asking question and information, that I was denied of. So after collecting {$1600.00}, they stopped the garnishment on XX/XX/XXXX. I thought this was over, but on XX/XX/XXXX, I received a garnishment letter from the same collection agency again. this time garnishment is for {$5800.00}. Their attorney signed the paper on XX/XX/XXXX and my wages started to be garnished on XX/XX/XXXX before I even had anytime to dispute it. I called the agency and let them know this has been paid off already and sent them a copy of the proof of payment. Their attorney XXXX said that this proof of payment is not satisfactory because this debt is for a credit card and not a bank account. I was super confused at this. He took a picture and sent me a picture of what account it was for. On the judgment it says that i had opened a credit account on a SUNDAY of XXXX. I have been qualified for home loans and car loans, my credit history is clean, it shows no debt. I have a credit report from XXXX XXXX from XX/XX/XXXX, and this " debt '' is not on it. the attorney can't seem to explain any of my questions. I asked him to send me the entire judgment, but instead he just took a picture of the front and sent it to me. I do not claim or will I ever claim this debt for this is not mine. I never opened any credit card accounts until XXXX but from a different bank. This seems very fraudulent, due to them not wanting to give me any information regarding this debt, not following proper procedures, garnishing greater than total amount owed ( they said the original amount was {$1100.00} ), failing to give timely notice of garnishments. I have asked them to refund me all the money they stole from me, but they denied me of it. I am reporting this as a fraud due to never having a credit card account of the year XXXX, SPECIALLY opening the account on a SUNDAY. Case # is XXXX
