Consumer Narrative
On XX/XX/XXXX, I had filed a dispute on Experian for a debt that has been improperly reporting on my credit report. The account with XXXX XXXX XXXX was opened in XX/XX/XXXX. Due to incontrollable circumstances in which I had no other options than to file a XXXX XXXX bankruptcy. On XX/XX/XXXX I had filed for protection under XXXX XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX the initial notice was sent to the creditors and on XX/XX/XXXX the notice for the meeting of creditors ( date/time/place ) was sent. All three notices included XXXX. My bankruptcy was discharged on XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX was sent a discharge of debt. I've attached a copy of the petition, meeting of creditors and discharge paperwork. Unbeknownst to me, XXXX XXXX started reporting this account with a XX/XX/XXXX open date and a XX/XX/XXXX charge off account. This was after the debt was forgiven and prior to them ever reporting on my credit. The results of the dispute didn't rectify the issue. They zeroed out the account and listed a bankruptcy date of XX/XX/XXXX and a closed date of XX/XX/XXXX. From my understanding, this is a violation of my rights under the FCRA. The update has now caused me to lose my pre-approved status on trying to purchase a new home. I've worked hard to start rebuilding myself after my bankruptcy and I was told that the way it's now reporting is valid. This debt should've never started reporting two years after my discharge nor should it be dated as closed/included in bankruptcy as of this year. This account was never reporting prior to XX/XX/XXXX, so how is it legal that they can erroneously start reporting a discharged debt in which they were informed through my petition, meeting of creditors notice, and discharge notice?
