Consumer Narrative
On approximately XX/XX/2021, I contacted a debt collector that I had a number for, XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, who told me they no longer held my debt of {$3200.00}, it had been recalled by the owner. They informed me that it was now held by JHPDE Finance I , LLC, and they provided a phone number for contact, so I called that number. I reached a representative of JHPDE Finance I , LLC, who informed me that the debt was not theirs to collect, and that it was assigned to XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, and that I would have to contact them. Upon recontacting XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX, the next day, XX/XX/2021, I was told that the owner was Paradigm Asset Management, not JHPDE Finance I , LLC, and was provided a phone number which matched that on the website -- http : //www.paradigmassets.com -- so I called Paradigm, this was the first time. The voice on the announcement was the same, and the same announcement as for JHPDE Finance I , LLC. Paradigm did finally answer after the third attempt that day, and after explaining my situation, and explaining that I need the information on the debt and where to send payment through refinancing my home I was told that direct payment would have to wait until next week when they have the debt assigned to a collection agency, and that they aren't set up to collect payments, despite their phone answering announcement stating, " We are a debt collector ... '' They stated that it was already in the process of being reassigned, after verifying my information, and told me that it would be in the hands of an agency approximately XXXX week from today, so that would be XX/XX/2021, at a collection agency. I have yet to be contacted by this new -- as yet unknown -- debt collection agency. This stalling from Paradigm on getting a verification of the debt amount and where to have it sent when my refinance closes is causing an unreasonable delay in closing, after XXXX attempts to speak with Paradigm/JHPDE Finance I, LLC -- who owns the debt -- on the phone and finally being advised via their own phone answering pickup recording that 1 ) they are a debt collector, then 2 ) being told they won't provide information on how to help them collect that debt by providing information necessary to allow me to have the payment sent directly to them from escrow. Either they want the money or they don't!
