Consumer Narrative
XXXX XXXX 's online banking system has flaws in its design on how to handle the XXXX account- if the principle balance is zero, the account summary page will simply show balance as {$0.00}, even there is some payment dues such as annual account fee or accrued interests on the account. Those payment dues only show up if customer purposely click the 'Pay ' button at the account. This is a very bad system design and failed to inform customers properly and timely. Why would a customer click 'Pay ' button on account balance as ZERO in first place?! This flaw in their system caused me late payments on annual fees and accrued interests in my XXXX account back in 2018 XXXX, XXXX, and XXXX, each time it was a {$5.00} payment dues, I did pay it immediately upon I got the notification from XXXX XXXX in other ways ( letter, phone call ). But still, XXXX XXXX reported these as late payments to credit bureaus, which adversely damage my credit scores and darken my financial futures. I have never missed any mortgage payments and XXXX principle / interests payments with XXXX XXXX, but only these XXXX occurrences which were mainly caused by their banking system 's flaw failed to serve their customers. I asked them to fix the errors on my credit reporting, and ask them to improve their banking system to better/ transparently serve their customers. Their responses insisted that this was customer 's fault and they reported to credit bureaus correctly, which I totally disagree. As a matter of fact, XXXX XXXX changed their process a little bit after 2018, and will never charge interests on annual fee payment anymore, but still, their online banking system not showing any balance of those hidden payment dues at the account summary page, unless customer click 'Pay ' button, which is very misleading as usual, image why would customer click 'Pay ' button if they see the account balance shown is {$0.00}? I want to raise my concern to CFPB, so that the government agency can push them correct their system design, and fix the credit reporting they did to their customers which were truly caused by their banking system 's design failed their fiduciary mandate.
