In XXXX, I sublet an apartment through estate management. Upon moving out, my security deposit was applied to a balance that I allegedly owed. After learning of the charges I found out that I was illegally charged for my service animal. I contacted XXXX XXXX and Informed the manager that I believe I was mistakenly charged for my service animal. The manager told me that she was new and the former manager no longer worked there. She said that she could not find anything about me having a service animal. I let her know that I showed my service animal Identification card to the former manager and that I could also provide it to her as well. Although I provided her with my service animal documentation, as well as XXXX XXXX laws regarding service animals, she refused to adjust the balance. She claimed that I never had information of a service animal on file with the apartment complex. I explained to her that I did in fact provide documentation to the former manager and I that under XXXX laws, even if I am to provide my documentation at a later date, the charges have to be adjusted. She told me that the balance could not be adjusted and it was up to the collection agency. I contacted the collection agency explaining the situation and they informed me that all they needed from her was to update the balance on her end. I called her back and explained that and her answer was okay. She never did it and this debt is affecting my credit. After explaining all of this to XXXX XXXX with documentation, they still did not change the balance.
