On XX/XX/XXXX I was given a {$150.00} Vanilla Visa Gift card for my Birthday. I went to use the card on XX/XX/XXXX and the purchase was declined. I called the number on the back of the card and learned that the card was used at a XXXX store in XXXX, CA on XX/XX/XXXX for {$110.00}. I live in the state of CT. The card was purchased in CT. I was trying to use the card in CT. I filed a dispute with Vanilla Visa Gift Card Co on XX/XX/XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I was informed by XXXX XXXX at XXXX ( Parent Company ) that they would not be refunding my money at all since supposedly the card was physically presented at the XXXX store at the time of purchase. Thereby, absolving them of any responsibility. I can prove I was not in California on the dates in question. Again, I have the card in my possession. Additionally, per their automated message, as soon as a complaint is filed, any balance left on the card is frozen while the complaint is investigated. The card was used AGAIN well after the complaint was filed. This time in XXXX XXXX, CA on XX/XX/XXXX at another XXXX for the remainder of the card balance- {$35.00}. Somehow this money is getting refunded to me per XXXX. Small consolation in the grand scheme. I want a refund of the {$110.00}. I have filed a complaint with the XXXX XXXXn Georgia, where the XXXX headquarters are. Last I saw the company has yet to respond to this complaint. This is outrageous that I should be penalized in any way for fraudulent activity they allowed. Whether the card was duplicated, the numbers were stolen, whatever, the company should be responsible.
