Consumer Narrative
For months, since at least XXXX, Equifax has reported blank or incorrect information on my credit report. Despite having more than 16.5 years of exceptional credit history ( which is clearly seen at other credit bureaus and on their own historic records from past years ), this year Equifax 's records show " insufficient history '' as if I were someone with 6 months or less credit history instead of over a decade and a half of exceptional history. They also keep sending me correspondence with the wrong name on it. This has resulted in me being unable to qualify for a mortgage at a time when it would have been vital to do so, because no one can approve someone with a blank score and an incorrect score would have negatively affect the loans qualified for. It has also resulted in an unreasonable amount of stress, hassle, and frankly harassment at this point, to be receiving mail with the wrong name on it. Despite calling, digitally disputing, and mailing corrections via snail mail- they have closed every dispute without having ever fully correcting the issues with their records. Trying to resolve their errors has resulted in them pulling my credit score over and over and over every time I contact them ( without resolving the issues ) so many times that it has adversely affected my score. I asked them to remove some of those pulls from the report since it is their fault that they haven't corrected their errors, not mine, but of course that can just be added to the many things they have done wrong that they haven't corrected and the problems continue now with a lowered score for me just for trying to fix their errors. I am now going to escalate to any and all avenues necessary until Equifax fully resolves the issues with my reports and with addressing me with the wrong name on their address labels. I just got off the phone with them again where, I can only assume, at least 1 person probably pulled my credit report despite being asked not to, and then they forwarded me to the wrong place without resolving it yet again. They have repeatedly given me wrong numbers and fax numbers in the past or routed me to places that can not help, such as, in the case of today, they forwarded me to their fraud department who was obviously not able to help. I was on the phone waiting for someone to address the seemingly simple issue of just correcting their address labels to have the right name for me and that alone took more than an hour of wait time with no resolution. This is not unusual to be on the phone for over an hour waiting for resolution that never comes. Until my name is correct on their address labels, and until their reports correctly show that I have sufficient credit history, and anything else they XXXX up in the mean time- until every single error of theirs is corrected, I will continue to escalate. I am completely furious and can not believe that Equifax is allowed to continue to ruin people 's lives and run incorrect information unabated and uncorrected for indefinite periods of time. Even a simple search on the internet to see if anyone else is affected by their incompetence shows that they have so many active lawsuits all around the country in such numbers that the lawsuits had to be grouped together topically. I think they should be disbanded or sold to another bureau who is able to competently handle people 's credit reports, and/or the government needs to regulate the damage a bureau is able to wreak on people 's lives without any correction, because this is insane.
