I finance a XXXX XXXX XXXX with XXXX as the finance company. I had the vehicle for almost 2 years and never had a missed payment. My suv was recently totaled loss on XX/XX/XXXX. The insurance company of the other driver accepted liability and issued a payment to XXXX of XXXX. In the meantime as XXXX was waiting to receive payment from the Insurance Company I continued to make my payments because I did not want to ruin my credit. I called XXXX weekly to see if they received payment to avoid any issues because I would have continued to pay if has too. They had told me they received payment and to call back in a week. I was still able to check the account and when I did it showed that the check was posted and that I had a balance due of XXXX. I called and they said it was a mistake and to disregard they will fix it. The insurance company issued XXXX a check on XX/XX/XXXX paying more than what I owed on the suv leaving XXXX to issue me a payment from the account having an overpayment of {$140.00}. On XXXX I received a credit alert from experian that I have a paid/closed account with a 30 day late payment. This hurt my credit very bad. On XXXX is when I received my alerts from XXXX and XXXX showing the same thing. I called XXXX to speak with someone who told me that they will fix the error and it can take up to 90 days. I am not understanding why I have to wait almost three months for a mistake made on their behalf. I am in the process of buying a house and now I have this huge problem that I didnt create. My scores drop 40-51 points from each bureau.
