Consumer Narrative

This complaint was previously submitted by my husband on my behalf. Toyota Financial 's response was to obfuscate and avoid the issue by saying that he wasn't authorized to act on my behalf. The issue remains without resolution and needs to be addressed. Complaint Regarding Toyota Financial Services ( TFS ) and Collection for Personal Property Taxes ( PPT ) my husband and I have been trying to resolve an issue related to personal property taxes assessed on the lease of a XXXX XXXX XXXX. The lease has expired and the vehicle was returned without issue on XX/XX/XXXX. In early XXXX I received a bill from TFS for my share of property taxes for the 1st half of XXXX, listed as {$100.00}. I have no issue with the fact that some PPT is due, rather the issue is related to the amount and determining the appropriate calculation. Because I doubted the accuracy of the {$100.00} amount we called TFS to ask for a copy of the tax bill and an explanation of how the amount due was calculated. After going through the on hold period we opted for a callback which I got about 2 hours later. Unfortunately, the representative was unable to provide the specific information but he promised to have a copy of the tax bill mailed to us so that I could do my own calculations. What I received was another copy of the bill for {$100.00}. Today we called TFS at XXXX and opted for a callback after being informed there was a 1 hour and twenty minute hold time. I received a callback from XXXX at ( XXXX ) XXXX at XXXX. Unfortunately the call disconnected before any meaningful information was shared and I have yet to receive another callback ( its XXXX now ). Now this may seem like making a mountain out of a molehill but if TFS is arbitrarily billing customers for PPTs that are inflated and inaccurate they are unlawfully profiting from their customers. My husband called the county tax office and verified that the PPT on that vehicle for the 1st half of XXXX was {$190.00}. TFS was initially billed for the entire period but was sent a corrected prorated bill of {$83.00} based on a disposition date of XX/XX/XXXX. Because we returned the vehicle on XX/XX/XXXX, my calculation says that were responsible for {$58.00} ; certainly not {$100.00}. I dont want to make unfounded accusations but sending bills for XXXX without corroborating documentation showing the validity of the charges is a questionable practice. Add to that a customer service organization that is next to impossible to reach and very unhelpful when they are reached and you have a recipe for frustration that likely leads most customers to just pay up.
