Consumer Narrative
I contacted my mortgage company on XX/XX/XXXX to ask about my PMI automatically cancelling since it hadn't already. I was told a request would be made and I'd hear back from them. I never did and called back on Tuesday, XX/XX/XXXX. The person said they'd follow up and get back to me but it looked like I qualified. I received a call back from her today and was told that because I'm in an area where a disaster was declared over 24 months ago, I would have to get an appraisal before my PMI can be cancelled. She claimed this was under some XXXX XXXX provision. I think this is a lie.
