On XX/XX/2021, Smith , Cohen & Rosenberg , LLC, a Delaware corporation operating in numerous states, responded to CFPB Complaint XXXX INTERNALLY closing the fraudulent debt collection account they maintained. Their response to the CFPB indicates their detrimental reliance on the incorrect information their client gave them ( facts they did not verify, despite my dispute of the debt before reporting the debt as a Collection to credit reporting bureaus. But they had, as alleged in that Complaint, filed a false credit report the same day they sent me a first notice of the attempted collection ). On XX/XX/2021, I sent a Demand Letter directing the company to update the 'Collection, ' which is no longer disputed based on their response to the CFPB Complaint. Smith , Cohen & Rosenberg has independently caused my credit score to drop 80 points since filing a wrongful Collection with the credit reporting agencies. There are no other factors on my credit report that would cause the poor credit rating. They have a legal obligation to un-do this harm immediately, by directing the credit reporting agencies to remove the Collection now that they have closed the file internally as a wrongful attempt to collect a debt not owed.
