This complaint concerns two mortgage servicers, both attempting to collect mortgage payments from me for the same mortgage. I have repeatedly spoken to both companies over the last two weeks and both companies insist the other company is in error. My mortgage is due in three days and I am at a loss for how to proceed. Here are the facts : My partner and I entered into a mortgage agreement for a home in California in XX/XX/2021 Finance of America C/O XXXX sent us our first mortgage statement, which we paid on or around XX/XX/2021. However, a company called XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) issued us a welcome letter stating that as of XX/XX/2021, XXXX was now servicing our mortgage. Finance of America, however insisted that it was still servicing our mortgage. In the last two weeks of XXXX I contacted both mortgage servicers repeatedly. Finance of America and XXXX ordered us to make payments through XXXX while XXXX ordered us to make payments through XXXX. After getting nowhere with phone calls, on XX/XX/2021, I sent an email to both companies demanding that they resolve this issue by communicating with each other. Neither company has yet responded to the email. Importantly, XXXX has all of my financial information, including our mortgage application and agreement, and Social Security numbers. We are unable to tell which company is our true loan servicer. Regardless, one of the companies is falsely attempting to collect our mortgage payments. We believe we have given them sufficient time to resolve this and at least one of the companies appears grossly negligent in handling this matter.
